Custom Spider Homes for Your Pets

KRT Custom Spider Homes was started by a hitchhiking orb weaver who came in on a plant during the fall clean up. We kept her for many months but after a failed molt we sadly lost her. My son was heart broken. Then along came Ms. Hopps from our local pet store. I was still admittingly a bit scared of spiders at the time but willing to learn for my kids. With her not being too social and me being a scaredy cat we took it slow, a great match actually. My love for jumpers began to blossom.  Lets just say I never imagined I'd cry over a spider dying, but I did. I have always been a "crafty" type person so designing and decorating homes was a natural next step. The 70 spiders I ended up with from a retiring breeder soon thereafter, not so much so. BUT it taught me so much about their care, personalities and the requirements for building safe homes for them. Never did I think this would turn into a full blown business that lets me do something I love. Thank you to the people who have become my friends, customers, and supporters. 

Hi, I'm your enclosure creator, Katie. I've been with my husband about a decade now and have lived in Idaho about the same amount of time. I used to be kind of a "Jill of all trades" Farming, construction, bartender, all sorts of things until settling in nursing for quite a few years. For the last few years I've been lucky enough to be a stay at home mom to my two young children and have watched a few of my nieces too. You'll usually find me in the garden during the better weather seasons, so expect a few pictures during prime garden time. The spider world was definitely an unexpected thing to add to my resume but  it has been a fun new hobby over the last year. I'm happy to be here and always willing to answer any questions.
